Callison Tighe member Nekki Shutt has received a South Carolina Leadership in Law Award from South Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

Shutt will be profiled in the publication’s Jan. 18 edition. The 30 recipients of this year’s awards also will be honored at an awards dinner March 10.

The awards are given yearly to attorneys who contribute to society, achieve professional success and make an impact on the legal industry.

Shutt and Callison Tighe member M. Malissa Burnette were lead counsel in the litigation that cleared the way for same-sex marriage in South Carolina. Shutt and Burnette also were honored this month in Columbia Business Monthly’s Top 50 Most Influential in the Midlands for 2015 edition.
