Construction on Pavilions at Centennial Park moving rapidly
March 20, 2019Construction on the Pavilions at Centennial Park is moving along rapidly. With the cooperation of the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina and their trade partners, the project is nearing its end with an estimated completion date of late April. A ribbon cutting will be held on May 21st.
The Pavilions are part of the celebration of Fort Jackson’s 100 year anniversary. The Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina, (BIA) is gifting six pavilions to the Fort’s new Centennial Park. This project partnership with the Building Industry Charitable Foundation will provide meeting places for the thousands of graduating trainees and their families who gather at the Fort almost every week.
Graduations take place 47 out of 52 weeks a year at Fort Jackson without much space for celebrations and reunions to occur. BIA members Great Southern Homes, Mungo Homes, Essex Homes, Hood Construction and Covert Homes agreed to solve this problem with the construction of six covered pavilions. The five builders will partner with industry associates to provide the pavilions free of cost.
Donations for the project are being accepted by the BIA to help offset the cost of materials and labor.
