Northwestern Mutual, a leading financial services firm, selected four college seniors to work in the Greenville office to gain valuable financial planning experience in the firm’s nationally recognized internship program. Students Jeremy Hart of North Greenville University, Rachel Thornton of Wofford University, Mikael Manner of Fort Hays State University and Graham Pioth of Clemson University will learn skills that lay a solid foundation in finance, insurance and sales.

This year marks the 52nd anniversary of Northwestern Mutual’s successful internship program, which can be instrumental for a college student’s future career – whether in the financial services industry, sales or other business endeavors. Since 1967, over 52,000 college students have participated in Northwestern Mutual’s internship program, and nearly one-third of interns will pursue full-time careers with the company after graduation.

“Years of experience have shown us that the internship program develops some of our strongest leaders and most accomplished financial representatives,” said Tony Allen Northwestern Mutual College Unit Director and Financial Advisor. “A Northwestern Mutual internship is a unique opportunity for students to build relationships and receive hands-on training and mentoring from some of the best financial planning professionals in the industry.”

Northwestern Mutual ranks #4 overall across all industries on the Vault’s Top 50 Internships for 2017 and is the only company to be recognized in the top 10 for 21 straight years.  Additionally, the Vault Guide to Internships from 1997-2017 ranked Northwestern Mutual #2 for career development opportunities and #10 in the U.S. in terms of positive office culture, flexibility and work-life balance.
