Local Crowdfunding Platform Partnered With Charleston Moves for Mobility Month
Donate2it, the Lowcountry’s local crowdfunding solution, recently partnered with Charleston Moves to help the bike, pedestrian and public transit advocacy group exceed its $25,000 fundraising goal in celebration of Mobility Month.
Donate2it facilitated more than 80 donations to raise $25,470 in one week. The total amount raised exceeded the $25,000 goal and includes a $5,000 match from Donate2it.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Charleston Moves to make transportation more equitable for everyone,” said Donate2it founder Steve Dudash. “Donate2it was created to be the Lowcountry’s local crowdfunding solution. Our platform provides community organizations like Charleston Moves the ability to accelerate their fundraising needs by offering matching funds up to a certain amount.”
Best known for their work advocating for and achieving the pedestrian and bike lanes on the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston Moves has planned 13 events throughout the region to raise awareness about mobility issues in Charleston during the month of May.
“We could not continue to advocate diligently, connecting our community across all modes of travel, without the community’s support, and are beyond grateful to have a local platform through which to support our work,” said Charleston Moves executive director Katie Zimmerman. “We’re moving ahead with our campaigns for safe multi-modal retrofits to area bridges, as well as focusing on specific street and intersection improvements, including Brigade Street, Folly Road and Maybank Highway. We needed to hit our fundraising goal to ensure our work gets done, and thanks to Donate2it, we are on track.”
