Midlands School Library reopens doors to entire community this summer

June 5, 2019

While school may be out for the summer, the library at Lower Richland High School (2615 Lower Richland Boulevard) is in session. Richland Library is once again enacting the space from June 10 – July 31 in an effort to offer expanded resources, services and programs to the entire Lower Richland community.

Thanks to a partnership with Richland School District One, doors are open from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays to children, teens and adults. During that time, our staff are providing:

  • Holds pick-up
  • Computer access
  • Recommendations of books, music and movies
  • Children’s storytimes and activities
  • Interactions with social workers

While Richland Library is proud to continue serving the community through this outreach effort, which originally launched in 2016, we’re even more excited to announce construction will begin this summer on a new library location in the Lower Richland community.

Located across the street from Lower Richland High School, the new library location plans to feature new releases and a cultivated collection, public computers and laptops, a meeting space, and programs that focus on literacy, workforce development and social services.

Richland Library Lower Richland (9019 Garners Ferry Road) is expected to open by the end of 2019, marking our 13th library location in Richland County. For the latest project updates, please visit buildingyourlibrary.com.
