Taylor Jackson named South Carolina Council on Competitiveness’ Deputy Director of SC Logistics

July 7, 2019

Taylor Jackson has joined the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness as the Deputy Director of SC Logistics. Taylor brings logistics expertise to the Council after having served as an Account Manager for Kuehne + Nagel, where she managed global accounts in the Southeast territory. As the Deputy Director of SC Logistics, Taylor Jackson will support the efforts of the Council’s logistics initiative alongside Suzanne Dickerson, Director of SC Logistics.

“Taylor will be such a great asset to our team,” said Suzanne. “Her broad range of experience and knowledge of logistics will provide essential support to the industry as well as fuel our efforts to maintain a fruitful environment for logistics in South Carolina.”

Prior to her work at Kuehne + Nagel, Taylor began her maritime career in 2014 as a Rates Analyst at John S. James Company, soon transitioning to an Export Administrator.

Susie Shannon, President and CEO of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, said that Taylor is a welcome addition to the team noting that the rapid growth in the logistics industry across the state and the onboarding of new initiatives within the Council made it an ideal time to add a Deputy Director to the SC Logistics.

“The Council team and I are thrilled to have Taylor on board,” said Susie. “With a busy year ahead of us and new projects on the horizon, Taylor brings the level of talent and experience we need to help SC Logistics continue to flourish.”

Dave Edwards,  President and CEO of the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and chair of the SC Logistics Executive Forum echoed that sentiment saying, “We’re glad to have Taylor onboard to work alongside Suzanne and help drive forward our mission to support the logistics industry across the state.”

Taylor will be based in the Charleston area but will maintain SC Logistics’ mission to address the needs of logistics companies across the state.  “I am so excited for the opportunity to be a part of helping to make South Carolina’s logistics industry successful,” said Taylor. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a Biology Minor from Clemson University.  She is actively involved with various organizations including Charleston Women in International Trade where she serves as Scholarships & Awards Chair and the Charleston Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association where she is Vice President and Social Chair. Taylor is also Co-Chair of the Waterfront Collective in Charleston, SC, and in 2019 she won Young Leader of the Year for National Transportation Week (NTW).

About SC Logistics

SC Logistics is an initiative of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness. It is a collaborative effort to strengthen South Carolina’s economy, create jobs, attract investment and become a global leader in transportation, distribution and logistics.

Through the collaborative work of our partners and under the leadership of Suzanne Dickerson, Director of Logistics initiatives, SC Logistics helps position South Carolina as a hub for the transportation of people and goods across the globe. By the very nature of the industry, logistics supports all businesses in the state and includes representation from all sectors of the industry: trucking, rail, maritime, air, distributors, manufacturers, and third-party logistics providers.

From global manufacturing companies to locally owned small businesses, SC businesses rely on logistics services at twice the rate of other purchased services.

About the SC Council on Competitiveness

The South Carolina Council on Competitiveness – The Council – is a nonpartisan, business-led, nonprofit organization that drives South Carolina’s long-term economic growth through managing select industry clusters and providing the research, network, and resources that clusters require to thrive.

Led by President and CEO, Susie Shannon, the Council manages multiple initiatives and industry clusters in South Carolina including SC Aerospace, SC Logistics, TechSC, SC CyberAlley and TransformSC.  It also provides resources and support to other clusters and initiatives across the state.

Industry clusters are economic ecosystems of linked industries and other entities important to competition, like suppliers of components, machinery, and services. These inter-connected ecosystems cultivate a business environment that fosters innovation. Innovation, in turn, spurs new business ventures.

The formation of the Council in 2004 marked the first time South Carolina’s business, government, and academic leadership came together to address long-term competitiveness factors.
