Inaugural Miami flight departs from Columbia Metropolitan Airport

December 19, 2019

Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE hereafter) is excited to announce the departure this morning of our new nonstop service to Miami courtesy of American Airlines! Passengers on this first flight enjoyed inaugural festivities which included music, refreshments, and inaugural gifts as they prepared to jet off to a warm Christmas getaway.

The new flight is scheduled to depart CAE daily at 7:12 a.m. and will arrive in MIA at 8:58 a.m. The return flight is scheduled to depart MIA at 9:49 p.m. and will return to CAE at 11:47 p.m. The initial service will be on an ERJ – 145; a regional jet able to accommodate 50 passengers.

“This is huge for the Midlands region,” said CAE Executive Director, Mike Gula. “Miami is a destination that has been a part of our airline and air service conversations for some time, so we are very excited to see this come to fruition. Our passengers can now easily access destinations in the Caribbean, South America, Central America and various European markets with ease.”

“We are proud of our relationship with Columbia Metropolitan Airport, and the entire Columbia community,” said Tracy Montross, Director of State and Local Government Affairs. “This new flight to MIA means more access to the places our customers in Columbia want to go the most, especially with one stop to the Caribbean and Latin America. We look forward to continued support and a successful new route.”

This new nonstop flight to Miami will complement American Airlines’ additional nonstop service from Columbia to Washington DC (Reagan National), New York City (LaGuardia), Dallas, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.
