Public Health Update: The South Carolina Philharmonic
The South Carolina Philharmonic is committed to the health and safety of our audience and musicians at our concerts and events. We are seriously following the global situation, and are monitoring updates from SCDHEC, Center for Disease Control, Koger Center for the Arts, and the City of Columbia.
The Koger Center is taking extra precautionary measures by providing additional hand sanitizers throughout the building, particularly in high traffic areas. Additionally, their custodial staff is routinely disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, handles, elevator keypads, etc.
From Laura Renwick of SCDHEC Media Relations, “DHEC continues to provide guidance for ways the public can help protect against COVID-19, however the department is not recommending that healthy residents refrain from attending community events. In line with CDC guidance, the department also does not recommend closing schools or canceling public events at this time. DHEC continues to work with our federal, state and local partners to best protect the health of residents.” Official resources from SCDHEC are attached to this email.

We know our patrons are thinking carefully about purchasing tickets for upcoming performances. We appreciate your patronage and want you to know that the safety and wellbeing of our audience members is top of mind for all of us at the South Carolina Philharmonic.
All concerts and events are currently occurring as scheduled. If we receive any other recommendations from SCDHEC, the City of Columbia or the Koger Center, we will prioritize the health of our patrons, musicians and staff by implementing and communicating appropriate changes to our concert schedule. The latest updates will be posted on the South Carolina Philharmonic website.
