BASF Kirkland named to Leadership Spartanburg

Jerome Kirkland, the Site Manager for BASF’s Converse manufacturing facility in Spartanburg County, has been named to Leadership Spartanburg.
Leadership Spartanburg offers a backstage pass to the county, preparing participants to work within their own community and the region as effective leaders. Participants will learn about, examine and respond to the social and economic challenges and opportunities Spartanburg County faces. They also build relationships with their classmates as they identify organizational and individual opportunities for community involvement during the year-long program.
Kirkland earned his bachelor’s degree as well as his master’s in business administration from the University of Michigan. He has served as the Converse site manager since October 2019, and before that worked as a plant manager at the BASF site in Lincoln Park, Mich. Before that, he spent eight years with Kay Automotive Graphics.
“I love helping people and I truly strive to be a servant of the community,” Kirkland said. “Over the years I’ve worked to mentor many employees and grow their leadership skills, and that’s something that I hope can translate here in Spartanburg into working with youth in the community – helping them build leadership skills and realize their dreams.”
