The Hive receives $10K grant from Allstate Foundation to support survivors during COVID-19 pandemic

Funded by The Allstate Foundation, Local Organization Provides Economic and Emergency Relief to Survivors of Color Impacted During COVID-19 Pandemic
The Hive Community Circle, a local cultural-specific peer advocacy non-profit supporting survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner, violence, and stalking in Columbia, SC recently received a $10,000 Emergency Grant from the National Network to End Domestic Violence-The Allstate Foundation. The funds were granted to assist in continuation of service for survivors of color who experience intimate partner violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds will continue to support their Restorative Justice Project initiative (RJP).
The RJP is an adaptation of The Hive core services that have been made accessible virtually by providing online/over the phone peer advocacy, and in partnership with SC Victims Assistance Network (SCVAN) Financial Relief for Victims Program, economic relief, and safe housing vouchers. In 2020, The Hive expanded their services statewide and served over 75 survivors and families by providing Economic and Emergency Relief. According to the Violence to the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, approximately four out of 10 non-Hispanic Black women, American Indian, or Alaskan Native women, and one in two multi-racial non-Hispanic women have been a victim of physical violence , rape , and/or stalking by a partner in their lifetime.

and Executive Director of The Hive Community Circle. The grant was awarded as part of $1,000,000+ in emergency grants provided by The Allstate Foundation to help provide necessary relief, as the need for domestic violence services continues to rise.
