Laurens County Resident Among Those Honored for Work to Make Wishes Come True

February 15, 2021

Make-A-Wish® South Carolina recently recognized eight South Carolina women for their philanthropic achievements via a virtual award ceremony. Each dynamic woman was a 2020 honoree in the W.I.S.H. Society. Honorees had been nominated to the elite networking and fundraising Society for their professional achievements and commitment to building compassion and resilience in their communities – embodying the title of Women Inspiring Strength and Hope.

The honorees each accepted the challenge to raise a minimum of $7,500, which is acknowledged as a fully funded wish in S.C. to a child who has been diagnosed with a critical illness. Collectively the group of eight women raised $60,000.

Among the honorees was Susan Tallman a resident of Clinton and realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServcies C.Dan Joyner REALTORS.  Tallman has been supporting the South Carolina Chapter of Make-A-Wish since she first got involved in 2015.  Tallman participated in the inaugural Trailblaze Challenge which is a 28.3-mile hike in one day.

She’s been working to make wishes come true ever since.

“It’s truly been a pleasure to work with the team at SC Make-A-Wish,” said Tallman. “They work so hard to raise funds to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Right now there are over 400 children in South Carolina waiting for their wish to come true.”

Tallman’s fundraiser for the W.I.S.H. Society raised $10,000.  Tallman and her husband, Jeff, played 81 holes of golf in one day.  For them, making wishes come true is a family thing.  Jeff Tallman, director of golf at Musgrove Mill Golf Club, serves on the board of directors for Make A Wish South Carolina Chapter.

In January, Susan hosted a golf clinic for ladies at Musgrove Mill Golf Club and there are plans to host additional sessions in the future to raise money for Make-A-Wish.
