Mary Ann Griggas-Smith selected as Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute fellow

Tindall Corporation announced that Mary Ann Griggas-Smith, Director of Corporate Engineering, has been named a fellow of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). This award recognizes Griggas-Smith as an individual who embraces the values of the institute and has demonstrated outstanding service in education, research, design and production.
“Mary Ann has been a driving force for our corporate engineering efforts, educating others and bringing strategic solutions for each project she encounters,” said Greg Force, President & CEO of Tindall. “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition, and we are proud to have her representing Tindall in the precast concrete industry.”
Griggas-Smith was recognized for the fellow award at the PCI convention that took place on May 18-22. She is Tindall’s third team member to be named a PCI Fellow, along with Greg Force, President and CEO, and Chuck Wynings, VP and General Manager of the Virginia Division. Candidates were selected by the PCI Fellows Nominating Committee, which is composed of various Board of Directors members and other fellows. Fellows recipients are expected to have an exceptional record in functional PCI areas, such as education and research, as well as have a minimum of 10 years of experience as an active PCI member.
“It’s a true honor to be named a fellow of PCI, an organization that is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and benefits of precast concrete across the nation,” said Griggas-Smith. “I’m looking forward to serving among the other fellow members and continuing to promote the use of precast, prestressed concrete.”
Griggas-Smith joined Tindall in 2012 as the South Carolina Division’s Engineering Manager and has more than 35 years of structural engineering experience. Today, she leverages her expertise and leadership skills to spearhead a growing group of eight engineers and 15 3D designers that provides engineering support and training for the company. Griggas-Smith earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Tulane University.
Founded in 1954, PCI is the technical institute and trade association for the precast/prestressed concrete structures industry. PCI develops, maintains, and disseminates the Body of Knowledge for the design, fabrication and erection of precast concrete structures and systems.
