Local attorney takes raising the bar to new heights

February 8, 2022

The SC Bar is featuring Columbia attorney, Kenneth Berger, of the Law Office of Kenneth Berger, for donating more than $357,000 to community programs over the past three years through his Giving (Every) Tuesday campaign and Lawyers Against Distracted Driving Scholarship program.

Giving (Every) Tuesday

The Law Office of Kenneth Berger selects different organizations within the community and donates to support their causes every Tuesday. The list of impactful charitable causes includes road safety, helping children, supporting the elderly, caring for animals, feeding the community, and so much more. The Columbia-based personal injury firm looks for people and organizations that are taking action to make a difference. Most recently, Berger shared on the law firm’s Facebook page that they were donating this week to Neighbor to Neighbor; an organization that has provided 59,000 rides to almost 2,000 senior citizens since 2008.

Lawyers Against Distracted Driving Scholarship

The Lawyers Against Distracted Driving scholarship is a scholarship program started in 2020. Applicants are asked to write an essay addressing the dangers of distracted driving and what can be done to reduce and eliminate it. With this scholarship offering, the Law Office of Kenneth Berger not only wants to help students overcome the financial challenges of pursuing higher education, but also highlight the dangers of distracted driving with the hope of one day eliminating it altogether.

“We are given this life to make the world better. I was taught that lesson and encouraged to give what I could at a very young age. As I’ve gotten older, my ability to give and serve others has grown. My hope is that in coming years, our gifts – and with them our impact – will only increase,” said Berger.

In late January, the firm also donated royalties from the continuing education book, “Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation,” to the South Carolina Bar Foundation; a non-profit that promotes justice by funding legal access and education programs to grantees throughout the state.
