Summer SOAR 2022: Richland One to open registration for summer programs, camps April 18

Registration for Richland One’s Summer SOAR summer camps and enrichment programs opens April 18. Summer SOAR 2022 will be held from June 13-July 28 and will include a broad array of academic, enrichment and recreational programs designed to keep children learning and safe.

“We offer structured activities for students that not only help them build and polish their academic skills, but also keep them engaged by appealing to their interests,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon. “Summer SOAR assists students in preparing for the new academic year by exposing them to a wide array of exciting enrichment opportunities and learning experiences. There are also sessions for adults.”

This year’s program is appropriately themed, “Soaring Summers – Bright Futures.” There is no cost for many of the programs and, for others, fees range from $10-$200.

Summer SOAR offerings for elementary, middle and high school students include theater, robotics, sports, rocketry and aviation. Adults may enroll in similar programs, in addition to marketing, health science, criminal justice and business law.

“This year‘s Summer SOAR program offerings afford students across our learning continuum, from Pre-K through adult participants, a wealth of subject matter choices, activities and programs of interest,” said Dr. Traci Cooper, the district’s director of strategic partnerships and extended-day programs. “We invite all to discover, inquire, examine and explore with us as we celebrate a ‘Soaring Summer’ to build brighter futures.”

The Summer Soar 2022 brochure is posted on the district’s website. Richland One parents will receive a printed copy after Spring Break. A Summer SOAR Hotline (803-400-1692) will be available from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. beginning Monday, April 18 through Thursday, Aug. 4. The hotline is designed to assist parents with navigating program options.
