LC Chamber Hosts Ribbon Cutting for First of Three Community Gardens
September 28, 2022Things are “growing” great in Laurens County.
On Tuesday, the community came together to celebrate one of three new Community Gardens with an official Chamber Ribbon Cutting.
The United Way of Laurens County (UWLC) and the dedicated gardeners were joined by Chamber staff, City of Clinton Mayor Bob McLean, Clinton City Manager Tom Brooks, and many others.
This community garden is one of three that will be installed throughout Laurens County. The UWLC received a two-year USDA/NRCS grant to install 3 community gardens. They will be in Clinton, Waterloo, and Gray Court.
Alesia Carter, UWLC Executive Director, commented, “Through these community gardens, we have been able to supply fresh produce for free throughout the summer and are now planting our fall crop. Volunteers are always needed and very much appreciated.” Contact UWLC for more information on how you can participate in this “fruitful” project.
The UWLC is to be congratulated for their efforts. These gardens will have a positive impact in the community for years to come.
