Serves as the Assistant Director of Fitness programs. Responsible for the management of fitness activities, weight room, and cardiovascular equipment. Specific oversight of: Fitness program, including hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of all graduate assistants, instructors, weight room attendants and personal trainers. Coordinates the marketing and promotion strategies through social media of Campus Recreation programs. This position assists in the administration of the Summer Camp program, operations and communication of camp and hiring, training and evaluation of camp counselors. Provides oversight for the coordination of safety and risk management plans including facilitation of staff training and certification. Coordinates program assessment efforts, reports and participation data development and analysis. Actively participates in developing and achieving short and long range planning strategy and goals and objectives. Serves as a liaison to select department and university work teams and committees. Other duties as assigned based on departmental need.
• Provides leadership for Fitness Staff (Graduate Assistant, Group Fitness, Weight Room, Personal Trainers, Fitness, Camp Counselors and Marketing Interns). Implements continuing education strategies for staff to enhance skills; including, but not limited to; one on one meetings, in person and virtual training, functional unit meetings, workshops, and certifications.
• Leads departmental marketing and advertising through social media management, graphic design, video editing, event representation, and marketing intern oversight.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for fitness programs and fitness operations and summer camp. Assists in the administration of the Summer Camp program, operation and communication of camp. Assist in the development of policies and guidelines regarding Campus Recreation programs.
• Develops programming outcomes that help build a sense of community increasing retention for both associated participants and student employees. Provides oversight for the coordination of safety and risk management plans including facilitation of staff training.
• Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive maintenance program, including preventative maintenance and repair for fitness equipment. Evaluate facility and program needs for hard/software purchase, equipment, repair, materials, and supplies.
• Monitor departmental and industry trends to develop budget projections for staff, future programming, and specific equipment needs. Regularly reports fitness assessment and statistical data pertaining to operations, program participation, and staff development.
• Assist with the coordination and support of various Student Affairs functions
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree and 2 years related program experience. Group exercise and personal training experience required. Personal training certification and Fitness Instructor certification from ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or comparable organization required. First Aid/CPR/AED certifications required. Successful background check is required.
Salary: $38,758 – $51,132
