Superintendent Receives Highest Rating of Exceptional on 2023 Annual Evaluation

Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) is pleased to announce that Superintendent Dr. Ameca Carter Thomas received an Exceptional rating during her 2023 Annual Review. The LCSD 55 Board of Trustees reviewed Superintendent Thomas’s performance for the academic year 2022-2023 on June 26, 2023. Exceptional is the highest possible rating on the review. This prestigious rating highlights the superintendent’s outstanding instructional leadership, dedication, passion for students, and commitment to excellence in education.
Mrs. Peggy Nance, School Board Member representing Seat 6 stated, “I recognize Dr. Thomas’s strong leadership skills and contributions. I also appreciate the knowledge she possesses and shares with others. Her communication skills are impeccable. She keeps the community and the School Board informed weekly and monthly.”
“Dr. Thomas is aware there is much work to be done. Her focus is for every child to receive a quality education. I am very appreciative of the work she has done for Laurens County School District 55,” added Nance.
Under Superintendent Thomas’s guidance, she has led the district through a global pandemic and continued to show progress and growth in all areas. The district has witnessed tremendous progress in various areas, including staff development, instructional practices, and community partnerships. The district also received the Golden Achievement Award this year, presented by the South Carolina National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). The superintendent’s forward-thinking initiatives have helped lay a solid foundation for the future success of all students within the district.

This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible educators, administrators, staff, and students. It is a reflection of their unwavering commitment to excellence. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such an extraordinary team.”
As the district continues to strive for educational excellence, Superintendent Thomas remains committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement. LCSD 55 will continue collaboration with stakeholders at all levels to identify new opportunities for growth, enhance instructional practices, and ensure equitable access to high-quality education for every student.
Laurens County School District 55 would like to congratulate Superintendent Thomas on this well-deserved recognition and express sincere appreciation for her tireless efforts in fulfilling the district’s mission of inspiring and empowering all to be educated and informed. Dr. Thomas’s contract currently extends through 2026.
