Clinton Family YMCA Celebrates 50 Years of Strengthening Community and Health

The event was a momentous occasion, attended by community members and stakeholders who gathered to commemorate the organization’s journey of fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The festivities highlighted the successful renovation of the only indoor pool in Laurens County, the revitalization of tennis courts, and the addition of a third pickleball court. These improvements further enhance the YMCA’s offerings and provide the community quality facilities for recreation and wellness.
Harold Nichols, CEO and Executive Director of the Clinton YMCA, reflected on the organization’s commitment to the community. He emphasized the core values of trust, integrity, and teamwork that have been integral to the YMCA since its inception in 1967. Nichols paid homage to the visionary leaders, past and present, who recognized the need to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Clinton and Laurens County, setting the stage for the establishment of the YMCA.
Acknowledging the immense support and collaboration, Nichols expressed gratitude towards the Chamber of Commerce, Laurens County Council, City of Clinton Council, YMCA staff, volunteers, coaches, and the original building committee. He recognized the crucial role played by donors, whose contributions in various forms have played a vital role in shaping the YMCA into what it is today.
Nichols expressed optimism about the future of the YMCA, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration and community engagement. He commended the strong partnerships with the county and city administrations, highlighting the collective effort to provide essential services to the community.
