It is a great day to look up

I already had today’s email written… but that was until my experience this morning.

This morning I went to the memorial service for Bob Hudson.  There was an incredible brass ensemble and even an old-school quartet… it was one of the most stirring experiences I have had in a while.

I would only see Bob about once a year… usually at Hudson’s Smokehouse with his wife, Laura.  And yet it was like I was Bob’s best friend.  The thing is, every person who spoke during the funeral said the same thing.  Bob loved people.  And that is because he had experienced true Love… and he shared that with everyone he met.

One person shared how Bob took his love for people and implemented this principle in becoming a very successful business person.  He taught his business partner how to love their customers.

Loving your customers… loving those around you… making other people feel important… what a business plan.

Another person talked about the brevity of life.  He shared Bob’s perspective on this: “Life is like a roll of toilet paper – it starts off slow at first and then goes faster as you get near the end.”  Then the person commented, “Wisdom from the Hudsons.”

Bob was an amazing person.  He will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Laura and all the Hudson family.

The passing of Bob is real… but it is swallowed up by a greater Reality.

It is a great day to look up.
