City of Charleston staff and officials invite residents to participate in Westside neighborhood cleanup
May 15, 2024City staff from the Division of Business and Neighborhood Services, Keep Charleston Beautiful, Livability, Public Service, Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Police Department, and the Mayor’s Office will gather with residents in the Westside neighborhood to collect litter. The event will take place at 201 President Street on Saturday, May 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
This event is part of Operation Neighborhood, the Division of Business & Neighborhood Service’s program that seeks to engage City staff and residents during scheduled quarterly neighborhood clean-up events.
“Operation Neighborhood is a great opportunity to not only give back to the community, but also for City staff to spend time with residents,” said Mayor William Cogswell. “I look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday and working together to keep Charleston beautiful.”
Attendees will meet at Harmon Field at 201 President Street at 8:30 a.m. to divide up into groups to collect litter at the corner of Line and President Streets. According to the needs of the neighborhood, City staff may also remove bulk trash, clear vegetation in drainage ditches, and plant trees.
