Greenville Chamber statement on Greenville County penny sales and use tax referendum

August 7, 2024

The Greenville Chamber applauds the Greenville County Council’s visionary leadership for approving the third and final reading of the penny sales and use tax referendum for the November ballot.

If adopted, the approximately one billion dollars in funding will be used to repair our deteriorating Greenville County roads, improve our residents’ safety and quality of life, and drive continued business success and economic growth.

“The Greenville Chamber envisions a community where businesses succeed and people prosper,” said Greenville Chamber President and CEO Carlos Phillips. “Providing the opportunity for Greenville County voters to decide on this measure is the best next step toward making the investments to fund critical infrastructure improvements throughout our community, which has already been accomplished in several counties throughout South Carolina.”
