The Clinton High School Athletic Booster Club is preparing to host a special 50-year reunion celebration for the 1971-1974 State Championship Tennis Teams. This event marks a significant milestone in the school’s athletic history, honoring the remarkable achievements of the boys’ tennis teams that dominated the state AAA tennis scene during those years.

- Halftime Recognition at Wilder Stadium: Later that evening, the championship teams will be recognized during halftime at the Clinton High School football game at Wilder Stadium, celebrating their enduring legacy.

- Reunion Program at Clinton High School: The main event will take place at 6:00 PM at Clinton High School, located at 18132 Hwy 72E, Clinton. The program will include a dinner, speeches, and a chance to reminisce about the glorious days on the court.
In a heartfelt letter, Buddy Bridges, President of the Clinton High School Athletic Booster Club, expressed his excitement for the upcoming reunion. “As we reflect on the incredible memories that were created together as part of the Clinton High School tennis teams, we are thrilled to invite you to a special event celebrating the remarkable journey and accomplishments,” Bridges wrote. He emphasized the significance of the event as an opportunity to “reconnect with old friends, share stories, and relive the moments that made the times on the team so special.”
The reunion will honor the legacy of the 1971-1974 boys’ tennis teams, which compiled impressive records and brought pride to Clinton High School. The teams dominated their conference, and in the state tournaments, all six players finished first. The most valuable player award was given to Dick McSween, a stalwart player who led the team to victory.
Past media coverage highlights the exceptional performance of the teams. The “Devil Netters” carried on their winning tradition, capturing the state championship for three consecutive years.
