Annual ‘Wake Up with Rebuild’ returns to Anderson

August 20, 2024

Thanks to last year’s turnout and success, Rebuild Upstate’s free informational event Wake Up with Rebuild will return to Anderson this fall.

Wake Up with Rebuild is a free, informational event offering the opportunity to hear community leaders share thoughts on affordable housing in the Upstate. Attendees will learn how Rebuild Upstate has served homeowners in need for the past 17 years and how the organization envisions future service.

The Bleckley Station doors open at 7:30 a.m., with the program running from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12th, 2024. Free Cracker Barrel breakfast and coffee will be provided.

This year’s Wake Up with Rebuild program will include a moderated panel of Anderson leaders. Panelists include:

  • Luis Martinez, Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager, SouthState Bank
  • Jessica Pilgrim, RN, AnMed Health Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Josh Hawkins, Director of Emergency Management, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office
  • Kathy Hodges, Attorney, Law Offices of Kathleen Hodges

“We are excited for this year’s Wake Up with Rebuild event. We are honored to host it in Anderson again this year, and to continue the conversation around health and housing in the Upstate with our panelists,” said Jake Beaty, CEO of Rebuild Upstate.

Rebuild Upstate helps low-income homeowners with home repairs and accessibility improvements to create safe, livable housing in existing homes and neighborhoods. Home repairs can range from small plumbing fixes to roof and floor replacements. Accessibility improvements range from installing grab bars and railings for vulnerable populations to building wheelchair ramps for those with disabilities.

Attend Wake up with Rebuild to learn about the program’s work in the community, ways to get involved and how to contribute to life-changing home repairs.
