Former Clemson Extension Agent to Lead One of South Carolina’s Largest Agrihoods

The cooler September temperatures welcomed Christoper Burtt to Carnes Crossroads as the Agrihood’s first official Farm Director.  In this role, Christopher will oversee the 12+ acres of farm, and farm store & barn currently under construction in the popular residential community in Goose Creek. Carnes Crossroads, developed by Freehold Communities®, is one of a small number of Agrihood neighborhoods nationwide prioritizing sustainable agriculture practices and recreation.

Christopher’s passions align perfectly with the Carnes Crossroads’ vision for a vibrant, healthy, and connected lifestyle for residents. Christopher has spent more than a decade educating others about agriculture. Starting in landscape design and nursery production, he transitioned to vegetable production in coastal South Carolina. Most recently, Christopher served as the Urban Horticulture Extension Agent for Clemson University, covering the tri-county area. Christopher was a frequent guest on Live 5 – WCSC and ETV’s Making it Grow where he would share agriculture tips and answer questions. Learn more about Christopher by reading his bio here.

  • At The Farm Store & Barn, residents will pick up their farm share and choose from a variety of curated local goods.
