“As our population advances, our healthcare needs to advance…”

Roper St. Francis Healthcare has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to expand healthcare access in Mount Pleasant with the site development for a new three-story medical office facility officially underway.

The project, located on a 4.56-acre parcel of land at 512 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard at Mathis Ferry, has received a positive staff report from the Town of Mount Pleasant’s Planning Commission, marking a key stride forward in the town’s approval process.

“The Tri-county region is one of the fastest growing regions in the country,” said Charles Fletcher, vice president of construction, real estate and support services. “As our population advances, our healthcare needs to advance.”

This milestone is the first step in a multi-phase project aimed at enhancing healthcare services in one of Charleston’s fastest-growing areas. “We need to be in all of our neighborhoods,” Fletcher said. “We currently have 115 locations around the lowcountry and were going to expand that to 120-125.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Roper St. Francis’s Healthcare new facility to our community,” said Matt Brady, economic development manager for the town of Mount Pleasant. “It also demonstrates an important investment in the community – right at our Town’s gateway.”

The next step is to present the design for architectural board approval later this year, with renderings to be shared once approved. “It’s an important step in improving the overall well-being of our community,” Brady said.
