Lexington One Board of Trustees gives superintendent an ‘extremely effective evaluation’

October 9, 2024

As part of the work session and business meeting on October 8, 2024, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees conducted the evaluation of Dr. Gerrita Postlewait, superintendent of Lexington One. The annual evaluation of the superintendent generally occurs in the fall in accordance with the contract between the superintendent and the board.

The board met to conduct the evaluation during open session and subsequently met in executive session with legal counsel. The board then voted in open session to  give Dr. Postlewait an extremely effective evaluation for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board said that Dr. Postlewait demonstrates an incredible working knowledge of education from the state to local level. The board challenged her to continue the heavy lifting necessary to move Lexington One forward.

Dr. Brent Powers thanked Dr. Postlewait for reducing the noise and keeping the district’s laser focus on improving education for every child.

The board voted to amend the superintendent’s contract to provide a 3% increase to her salary, which is consistent with the increase received by all eligible district employees on July 1.  The board also voted to increase her annuity contribution by 2 percent. The board voted to accept Dr. Postlewait’s resignation effective June 30, 2025, at which time Dr. Keith Price will take over as superintendent.
