Golden Career Strategies President Stacey Bevill earns Taking Flight with DISC Certification

December 16, 2024

Stacey Bevill, President of Greenville-based Golden Career Strategies, has successfully completed “Taking Flight with DISC Certification,” specialized training for coaches and others who offer DISC personality-style assessments and evaluations to individuals and/or corporate teams.

Psychologist William Moulton Marston created the original DISC assessment nearly 100 years ago, theorizing that people’s emotions could be categorized into four behavioral types: Dominance (D), Interactive (I), Supportive (S), and Conscientious (C), thus the term DISC. Today, more than a million people are given DISC assessments annually.

“The primary use for DISC is to improve teamwork, communication, and productivity within organizations. DISC assessments help people understand how their behaviors are impacting their own success and impacting others. This increases understanding and acceptance of others and decreases conflict and drama. This new certification from Take Flight Learning takes DISC assessments to the next level. They have essentially reinvented DISC training,” said Bevill. “Teams take the short assessment online, and then we provide either a half or full day of training in person or virtually.”

According to Take Flight Learning, the certifying organization, the Taking Flight with DISC program breathes new life into the tried-and-true DISC model by linking the DISC styles to four birds – first introduced by Merrick Rosenberg in his book, Taking Flight! By linking Eagles to the Dominant (D) style, Parrots to the Interactive (I) style, Doves to the Supportive (S) style and Owls to the Conscientious (C) style, people remember the styles like never before. A year from now, when people are asking questions like, “What does the D stand for?” they will still recall that eagle’s personality is direct, decisive, daring, and driven.

“This enhanced DISC assessment adds an element of fun by using the Eagle, Parrot, Dove and Owl to represent the D-I-S-C in the standard DISC assessment created by William Moulton Marston back in the 1920s. The birds are easy to identify and remember, and people learn more effectively through visual imagery. This unique approach leads to sustainable benefits in communication, engagement, conflict resolution and productivity for teams,” said Bevill. “As a coach, I like that it’s designed to create new awareness to help individuals build stronger relationships and drive better results.”
