AAF of The Midlands Announces 2008 ADDY® Award Winners
March 11, 2008COLUMBIA, SC – February 23, 2008 – AAF of The Midlands awarded 114 ADDY® Awards at the 2008 ADDY Gala at the Township Theatre in downtown Columbia Saturday, February 23.
Of the 114 awards given, 32 were Gold ADDY Awards, 66 were Silver ADDY Awards, four were “Best of” ADDY Awards, and one was the prestigious AAF Silver Medal. In the Student ADDY Competition, there were 3 Gold ADDY Awards, and 8 Silver ADDY Awards presented. A full list of winners can be found here.
The Silver Medal was given to Bonnie Drewniany, associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina. The Silver Medal is the highest honor an AAF chapter can bestow. Drewniany earned the Silver Medal for her exemplary work, creativity and dedication to the Columbia advertising community.
The mission of the ADDY Awards competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising. The ADDY competition in Columbia is the first of a three-tiered national competition. Winners at the local level can proceed to the district-level competition in Roanoke, Va., March 28-29, and if successful there, can proceed to compete for a National ADDY Award in Atlanta on June 10.
