Allegiant Air Announces End of Service from Columbia to Fort Lauderdale

COLUMBIA, SC – July 2, 2009 – Allegiant Air, LLC today announces it will end its scheduled service between Columbia, S.C. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The carrier’s last day of service to Fort Lauderdale will be Aug. 15, 2009. Customers with reservations Aug. 19 and beyond will be contacted directly by Allegiant for reaccomodation.

“Unfortunately, due to lack of market demand, we will end our Fort Lauderdale service from Columbia,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., president, CEO and chairman for Allegiant Air, said.  “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and greatly appreciate the considerable support the Columbia airport management team and community have shown us. Our flights to Orlando remain unaffected by this announcement.”

Allegiant Air began service from Columbia Metropolitan Airport to Orlando Feb. 25, 2009 and flights to Fort Lauderdale May 27, 2009.
