American Society of Civil Engineers Honors and Recognizes Upstate Engineer

Gaye Sprague Acknowledged for Excellence in Service to South Carolina

GREENVILLE, SC — Sprague and Sprague Consulting, an upstate engineering consulting firm, announced that The American Society of Civil Engineers, South Carolina Section has selected Gaye Garrison Sprague to receive the 2014 Distinguished Service to People Award. The award is given annually to the civil engineer that demonstrates outstanding service to the people of the State of South Carolina in civic and engineering service.

Sprague is a registered professional engineer with 35 years of experience working in traffic engineering and transportation planning. She has been the owner and principal of Sprague & Sprague Consulting Engineers since its establishment in 1985 and served on the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors from 2002 to 2008.

Sprague expressed her excitement to receive the award, “I am grateful to be recognized by the governing body of engineers in our great state.” Sprague added, “My goal is always to serve in the best interest of the people of South Carolina and receiving this award is truly an honor.”

In addition to her most recent award, Sprague was the recipient of the 2013 President’s Award presented by the South Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

In her community, Sprague has served as chair of the Board of the Greenville Transit Authority and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee. On November 5, 2013, she was re-elected to her second term as one of two at-large positions on Greenville City Council. Sprague also serves as the City Council liaison to the Friends of Springwood Cemetery, Greenville Transit Authority, the Appalachian Council of Governments, Renewable Water Resources and the Peace Center.
