Ameris Bank board member Bill Stern honored with the Israel Bonds Star of David Award

Ameris Bancorp Director and Ameris Bank – SC Community Board Member Bill Stern was recently given the Israel Bonds Star of David Award. Stern, along with his wife Linda, was recognized at the 2016 Israel Bonds of Columbia Community Reception on May 31st, which honored friends and supporters of the Jewish Community.

“I am honored to be recognized and support the great work of the Development Corporation for Israel,” stated Stern. “Civic involvement is an important part of the business community. I am proud to do my part and humbled to receive this award.”

Stern dedicates a great deal of his time to public and community service. He serves on the South Carolina Ports Authority as chairman emeritus, the AIPAC National Council, the board of the Columbia Jewish Federation and the JCC, the board of Beth Shalom Synagogue where is also a past president, and a chairman of the Beth Shalom Synagogue foundation. Previously, Bill served as chairman of the South Carolina Israel Cultural Exchange and was a former chairman of the South Carolina Council on the Holocaust.

Stern was appointed to the Ameris Bancorp Board of Directors and Ameris Bank South Carolina Community Board of Directors in November 2013. Stern and his wife, Linda, have also been awarded South Carolina’s top honor, the Order of the Palmetto. With all they have accomplished, their greatest joy has been raising their three boys, Brian, Jason, and Benjamin.
