Eight annual list recognizes Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing

NEW YORK, NY – January 27, 2011 – The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has selected Andressa Chapman, Director of Marketing for Wild Dunes Resort (a Destination Hotels & Resorts property), as one of the “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing” for 2010.  The eighth annual list recognizes the “best of the best” in the hospitality, travel and tourism industries, and the recipients were honored during a private ceremony preceding the Adrian Awards Gala on Jan. 31, 2011, at the New York Marriott Marquis, and be recognized at the Adrian Reception and Gala.

The 2010 “Top 25” recipients were judged by a panel of senior industry executives for their recent work based on the following criteria: creativity and innovation; cutting edge sales or marketing campaigns; triumph in challenging situations; and sales efforts that resulted in dramatic gains.

A professional marketer for over twelve years, Chapman earned her bachelor of science from Clemson University’s College of Business and Behavioral Science before entering Villanova University’s MBA program. She began her marketing career in the hospitality industry at Philadelphia International Airport. From there, she transitioned to the accounting industry, providing marketing services for Arthur Andersen and Grant Thornton LLP for several years prior to returning to the hospitality industry as a marketing leader for Charleston, S.C.’s Wild Dunes Resort.

An HSMAI member for over six years, Chapman contributes to the organization’s Resort Best Practices Committee. A marketing team leader within Destination Hotels & Resorts, she contributes to task forces dedicated to due diligence and acquisitions, as well as new property launches within the collection.  Chapman was recently featured in “Results-Driven Marketing in a Down Economy” an educational video produced and distributed by the United States Postal Service and was a guest speaker at the 2009 National Postal Forum in Washington, D.C. Under her direction, Wild Dunes Resort’s marketing campaigns have contributed to sustained market share growth for the Resort.

“The Top 25 is a ‘hot list’ that celebrates the sales and marketing leaders and innovators of our industry,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “The creative strategies, passionate dedication and sharp intelligence of these professionals have not only made a difference within their organizations but have also truly raised the bar for the hospitality industry as a whole.”

In addition to celebrating Chapman’s achievements, the Gala will recognize the top achievements in advertising, digital marketing and public relations in the hospitality, travel and tourism industries with the Adrian Award. In addition, lifetime achievement honors will be given to J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and CEO of Marriott International, Inc., and Nancy Friedman, president of Nancy J. Friedman Public Relations.
