Angela Crosland has been named Director of Communications for the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA). Crosland is a familiar face at the SCSBA after having previously served as the organization’s special projects and advocacy coordinator.

“I am excited about Angela returning to the SCSBA team, bringing her wealth of skills and knowledge as an accomplished public relations professional, passionate educator and experienced communicator,” SCSBA Executive Director Scott Price said.

In her new role, Crosland will oversee communications and marketing efforts of the association, the awards program, school board recognitions, media relations, social media campaigns and more.

A native of Marion, S.C., Crosland has more than 25 years of experience as an award-winning public relations professional. Crosland began her career as a broadcast journalist in the Army National Guard in 1994, and thereafter, began convergence reporting for the Morning News in Florence, S.C. Since then, she has served as the director of communications at Francis Marion University (FMU), while also serving as an adjunct professor in English and newswriting; public information administrator for two school districts; and led communications for a seminary’s multimillion-dollar development campaign.

Crosland received the African American Faculty and Staff Coalition’s Diversity Award from FMU in 2012 and has received honors from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

Crosland holds a bachelor’s degree in media arts from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Jones International University in Colorado.
