‘ArtFields Extended: The Arts Center of Kershaw County’ debuts at Bassett Gallery

The Bassett Gallery at the Arts Center of Kershaw County is now home to a groundbreaking exhibition as it unveils “ArtFields Extended: The Arts Center of Kershaw County.” Established in 2013, ArtFields celebrates the vibrant artistic spirit of the Southeast through a week of competition and festivity in Lake City, South Carolina. This is the first time the ArtFields permanent collection has traveled anywhere outside of Lake City.
The exhibit, open to the public from August 24 to September 23, showcases a selection of these prized works. It is open to the public M-F 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday 10:00am-2:00pm.
ArtFields annually awards over $145,000 in cash prizes and showcases more than 400 pieces annually. Only the grand prize victor secures a place within the ArtFields permanent collection.
The recently renovated Bassett Gallery provides the backdrop for this exhibition. “The Arts Center is especially grateful to the Steven’s Foundation and the Sally and Austin Brown Memorial Fund for making our gallery renovation possible,” said Dolly Patton, Executive Director of the Arts Center of Kershaw County.
