Automotive Group Presents Donation to Food Banks for 3rd Year in a Row

August 6, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Jim Hudson is presented a combined gift of $100,000 to local food banks to support their needs during the critical summer months.  The donations include a gift from his dealerships in Columbia to Harvest Hope Food Bank, as well as a gesture from Jim Hudson Lexus in Augusta to the Golden Harvest Food Bank.

Matching grants from Toyota and Lexus also contributed to this fund. The matching grants are a result of the Lexus Pursuit of Potential, a philanthropic program dedicated to supporting organizations that help children realize their potential and to inspire them to make the world a better place.

“We believe that we have a responsibility to give back to the areas we serve,” explained Mr. Hudson.  “We’re pleased to be able to help these food banks during the summer months when children are not able to lean on school programs for their daily meals.” Harvest Hope and Golden Harvest are both affiliated with the “Feeding America” national network, fighting to end the food insecurity which threatens children’s development. This is the third year in a row that the Jim Hudson Automotive Group has offered a gift to the food banks at this level, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to families in need.

The mission of Harvest Hope is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. The mission of Golden Harvest is to provide quality food and other products to those in need with local community support through direct service programs, food pantries, and community education about hunger.
