Berkeley County encourages public to report storm damage
August 31, 2023Reporting storm damage will help Berkeley County staff gauge the extent of damage in the County and report the findings to state and federal officials. These reports will determine appropriate federal and state funding for damage caused by the storm.
The Countyās Emergency Operations Center (EOC) returned to OPCON 3, normal operating conditions, at noon on Thursday.
The County Landfill and Convenience Centers areĀ CLOSED TODAY, Thursday, August 31.Ā To prevent potential overflow at these sites later in the week, Berkeley County officials encourage those who can, to drop off any storm and yard debris at the Landfill and Convenience Centers on Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2. **All locations areĀ CLOSED SUNDAY,Ā due to normal operatingĀ hoursĀ and will again beĀ CLOSEDĀ Monday, September 4Ā in observance of Labor Day.
The Landfill and Convenience Centers are forĀ Berkeley County residents only.Ā A valid ID is required and will be checked. Facilities only accept residential waste, not commercial waste. The County Landfill accepts commercial waste. For Convenience Center rules, goĀ HERE.
All Berkeley County Government facilities areĀ CLOSED TODAY, Thursday, August 31.Ā This includes Government offices, the Courthouse, Cypress Gardens, Berkeley Animal Center, and all County Library branches. All County facilities will reopen and operate by theirĀ normal hours onĀ Friday, September 1.Ā All County facilities (except Cypress Gardens) will beĀ CLOSED Monday, September 4Ā in observance of the Labor Day holiday: **Bond Court will still be held Monday at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.**
