Big Red Barn Retreat announces the hiring of a Director of Development

Big Red Barn Retreat welcomes Mary Wright as Director of Development. Ms. Wright was the manager of Grants and Development with SC Thrive previously and brings fifteen years’ experience in grant writing, development, program administration, and community engagement.

“We are excited to have Mary join us at the Big Red Barn Retreat” says Sutton Shaw, the Executive Director of the Big Red Barn Retreat. “She brings extensive non-profit experience to our leadership team and will help grow the BRBR to meet the increased demand for our programs, services, and training throughout the state of South Carolina.”

Along with being a seasoned professional, Ms. Wright is a proud blue-star mother and has a son that serves in the South Carolina National Guard as an Apache helicopter pilot. She received her bachelor of arts in communication/leadership, and group dynamics from Georgia State University. Furthermore, Mary completed a leadership course with USC/Urban League, and has been nominated twice for Executive Fundraising Professional in the Midlands.

In her new role, Ms. Wright will report to the Executive Director and be responsible for the design and execution of a comprehensive and integrated revenue generating strategy for the Big Red Barn Retreat. This will include business development via private sector partnerships, major gifts, and foundations. Furthermore, as Director of Development, she will manage existing fundraising initiatives, including events, grant writing, donor management, community outreach and volunteer engagement at all levels.
