Blackbaud donates $75,000 to Lowcountry Unity Fund at the Coastal Community Foundation

June 29, 2015

CHARLESTON, SC – In response to the tragedy that occurred at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church, Blackbaud announced that it has made a $75,000 donation to Coastal Community Foundation’s (CCF) newly established Lowcountry Unity Fund. The fund seeks to support community organizations that foster equality and progress surrounding issues of racial and economic inequality. In addition, the company has also committed to matching up to $25,000 of donations made to the fund by Blackbaud associates.

“We are humbled by the continuing acts of strength and unity we have seen here in Charleston over the past two weeks, and both want and need to be a part of the long-term solution. The families of the victims of this tragedy asked us, through their actions, to invest in a united community for the future. That’s what we’re doing by making this donation today,” said Blackbaud President and CEO Mike Gianoni.

With nearly half of the company’s workforce living in the tri-county area, the company supports the philanthropic efforts of its associates and is enthusiastic to match their donations toward this important step to establishing long-term solutions for equality in the Charleston community.
The company also gave an initial donation directly to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund in support of the victims’ families.

Blackbaud has a longstanding relationship with CCF having established a fund of its own in the mid-1990s focused on education for disadvantaged youth and the disabled. To learn more about the Lowcountry Unity Fund or make a donation, visit www.coastalcommunityfoundation.org/donate-today/.
