C.T. Lowndes & Company Insurance Agency of Beaufort announces Grand Opening

On Thursday, March 25, at 4:00pm, the City of Beaufort and the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the agency’s Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Chamber’s office, located at 1106 Carteret Street, Beaufort, SC. This outdoor event will feature libations, lite bites, and more! Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In 1850, Charles T. Lowndes founded C.T. Lowndes & Company. For over 170 years, the local and family owned and operated independent insurance agency has been witness to a long parade of natural and unnatural disasters, among those being the major hurricane of 1854, the great Charleston fire in 1861, the 1886 earthquake, two World Wars, hurricane Hugo, and economic depressions and recessions. Throughout it all, C.T. Lowndes & Company has protected the Lowcountry and South Carolina’s coastal communities and has developed a reputation of advocacy and being there for their clients when they need them the most.
Led by CEO, Bill Silcox, the highly-trained team of 100 – many with decades of service at the firm – is committed to building strong relationships with clients and remaining focused on clients’ needs. Company owners include the fifth and sixth generations of Lowndes family and the first and second generations of the Silcox family.

Considering its significant experience in insuring coastal risks, the agency’s selection of Beaufort as its newest location was a natural choice. Established in December 2020, the Beaufort location is led by Beaufort native, Erin Witt. Erin will primarily serve the Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head, Savannah, and surrounding communities, offering solutions for both personal and commercial lines risks.
