Carolinas AGC helps displaced workers fill construction jobs available throughout SC & NC

August 5, 2017

Carolinas AGC (CAGC) is helping lead efforts to employ thousands of construction workers who have been displaced by the shutdown of the V.C. Summer nuclear project site earlier this week near Jenkinsville, SC.

CAGC is proud to match former V.C. Summer employees and others looking for employment at a time when our members are hiring new employees daily in the construction industry. For example, there is information about hundreds of immediate job opportunities, in the Carolinas and throughout the Southeast, available on our website at www.cagc.org.

Jobs now available on the Carolinas AGC Career Page include project managers, carpenters, pipe fitters, estimators, heavy equipment operators, masons, electricians, craftworker trainers, mechanics, fuel and service technicians, crane operators, concrete finishers, grading foremen, superintendents, commercial drivers, excavators, safety managers and many others.

CAGC also is working with the SC Office of the Governor and the Midlands Workforce Development Board to ensure our members are participating in the Employ SC Job Fair on August 14 and the Workforce Boards Job Fair on August 22. Here is more information:

“While we are saddened by the sudden abandonment of the project and the impact it has had on so many workers and their families, the good news is there are hundreds of jobs available now in the construction industry in the Carolinas,” said Dave Simpson, President and CEO of Carolinas AGC. “We welcome the former V.C. Summer Employees to reach out to fill jobs that are out there and good careers awaiting in the construction industry in the Carolinas.”

Leslie B. Clark, CAGC’s SC Director of Government Relations and Divisions, is coordinating our efforts on this issue and is available at (704) 372-1450, x5515, or [email protected].
