Locals & Folly Association of Business members come together to tidy up Folly’s commercial district

FOLLY BEACH, SC On Monday, May 18, volunteers on Folly Beach will gather together for Center Street Beautification Day, a project aimed at sprucing up Folly Beach’s main street, Center Street, before the tourist season begins. The public is invited to participate in the cleaning starting at 2pm, and those who attend will be given bags, gloves and other items needed for tidying up the street. The Center Street cleanup is in accordance with a Palmetto Pride grant awarded to the City of Folly Beach for new planters along Center Street.

“Center Street is the gateway to our island, the main artery of our community and the first part of Folly people see,” said DJ Rich, Folly Beach city councilmember and Folly Association of Business member. “The City and the Folly Association of Business have several projects planned to enhance our commercial district, and this event is a step in the right direction.”

The cleanup will begin at Folly River Park, and volunteers will work their way through the commercial district, finishing at Loggerhead’s Beach Grill. All those participating in Center Street Beautification Day are invited to attend a cookout party at Loggerhead’s starting at 5pm, featuring food provided by Sysco, live music from BYOG, and more.
