Chapin Downtown Farmer’s Market returns with new hours – Saturday, September 2,

August 28, 2017

The Chapin Downtown Farmer’s Market returns Saturday, September 2 as part of the Chapin Labor Day Weekend and will have new hours – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the 100 block of Clark Street in downtown Chapin. The market provides residents and visitors with a healthy and fun shopping alternative with local growers and artisans selling fresh produce, dairy products and meats as well as handmade items like candles, jewelry, soaps and woodcrafts.

“We decide to change the market times to start a little later and last a little longer,” explained Karen Owens who serves as the market manager. “We were seeing more people coming at 11:00 am as we were breaking down so we decided to try this new schedule for the final two markets of the season to gauge the impacts on sales and attendance. This will be helpful as we evaluate plans for next year.”

Local fitness instructor Cynthia Sheppard of CMS Total Fitness will lead a 30-minute interactive cardio exercise demonstration, beginning at 10:00 am. She will lead a class that combines Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing, Low Impact Aerobics and Cardio Country to showcase the variety of classes she offers in the Chapin area. And Chapin’s Curt London returns to provide his acoustic tunes for attendees listening enjoyment.

Sponsored by the Town of Chapin and Farm Bureau Insurance, and in cooperation with a grant from Eat Smart, Move More Lexington County, the downtown market features the following local vendors: Bower Farms, Mt. Horeb’s Community Garden, Cross Creek Acres, Ink It 2, The Classy Cruet, Sweet Pea Farm Naturals, Agu’s All Natural Salve, Ma’Lily, Dr. Al Coston, Jr. with Family Practice of Chiropractic, Staci’s Scentscations, Sonshine and Grace, West Ridge Farms, A Through Z Designs, Chapin Branch Library, American Legion Post 193 and Pelicans Snoballs NW. Chapin We Care Center is the Non-Profit of the Month and will be educating the public on Hunger Action Month as well as collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations. And the Town of Chapin will have its Heart of Lake Murray 2017 Labor Day T-shirts on sale, too.

Growers and vendors interested in signing up for future markets can access the market rules and application on the Town’s website – www.chapinsc.com. And follow the market’s Facebook page to stay informed of the latest updates and vendor additions.
