Circa Barber Shop sets Cottontown location

February 8, 2017

Circa Barber Shop will open its second location sharing space with Indah Coffee Co. in the redeveloped 2238 Sumter St. in the historic Cottontown Neighborhood.

The artisan barber, which opened its first shop at 1332 Main St. in 2014, will have two chairs in a storefront space at the front of the 12,000-square-foot building. The building, the home of Dunn Electric Co. since 1945, is being redeveloped by Cason Development Group.

Renovations to the building are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017, and Circa Barber Shop hopes to be open in the new space in March. The building will also house Indah Coffee Co.

Circa Barber Shop will offer haircuts for men and women, shaves and beard trims, and a line of hair grooming products produced exclusively for the shop. Circa’s small, two-chair shops focus on the experience, the cut, the community and providing a consistent product that men can feel comfortable they are going to get every time they walk into the shop. Both the new location and the Main Street location will have two chairs and two barbers.

The renovation of the repurposed building will result in a beautiful and unique space created with an eye toward connecting people and the community. Cason plans to preserve many of the historical features of Dunn Electric, both inside and outside the building.

Circa Barber Shop began in 2014 in a renovated dressing room at what was Circa 1332, a Granger Owings clothing shop in Columbia’s historic Main Street arcade mall. When the store’s name was changed to Bespoke in 2015, Circa Barber Shop remained and expanded into a second dressing room.
