City Manager Teresa Wilson Inducted into the 2014 Women’s Hall of Fame by SESBM

COLUMBIA, SC – City Manager Teresa Wilson was inducted into the 2014 Women’s Hall of Fame by Southeast Small Business Magazine today at its Second Annual Women of Influence Breakfast.

SESBM recognizes women who have reached senior level positions within their profession, are leading entrepreneurs in their industry, have proven history-making feats or have attained the ability to influence large public bodies politically and in government. Last year, SESBM recognized Wilson as one of “Columbia’s Top 30 Women of Influence.”

Teresa Wilson became City Manager in January 2013. During her tenure, she has implemented and overseen numerous initiatives that are focused on making the city more efficient and more effective for citizens and business owners. City Manager Teresa Wilson’s business and management philosophy is focused on the “Build Columbia” strategic framework, which emphasizes the need to “Run, Grow and Transform” our city in an efficient and effective manner in order to yield a productive business and financial model for the City of Columbia’s operations. City Manager Teresa Wilson has also implemented the Neighborhood Improvement Plans for identified neighborhoods/communities that are experiencing an increased volume of calls for service for quality of life issues. This initiative will utilize the combined efforts of the Columbia Police Department (CPD), Code Enforcement and Zoning in order to concentrate in specific neighborhoods for 30 to 60 days. Based on GIS data and additional analysis by CPD, the effort will target neighborhoods/surrounding areas that have immediate, documented needs and require assistance.
