City to Offer New Fall Recreational Programming
August 10, 2011Parks and Recreation Department expands lineup to feature 30 new programs
GREENVILLE, SC – August 8, 2011 – The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department announced today its new fall recreation programming, which features a revamped lineup of leisure activities and sports for both youth and adult residents and visitors to enjoy. The programs are part of a new City initiative to offer a higher level of programming, including wellness, education and recreation to all five of its community centers and several athletic fields and parks.
According to Parks and Recreation Director Dana Souza, the new programs help reemphasize the benefits and values that recreational programming brings to the City. “We are very excited about our fall 2011 programs because they offer a wide variety of fun and interesting opportunities for residents of all ages and represent a significant change in the Parks and Recreation Department’s approach to programming,” said Souza. “We have evening and Saturday programs that will help breathe a new age of community use into our facilities and help to improve the quality of life for Greenville residents.”
Complementing the wide array of existing programs, the new lineup will feature 30 new programs, including Bicycle Traffic Skills 101; English to Speakers of Other Languages; Writing for Children: Creating Your Picture Book; Fall Break Camps; Write Your Own Novel; West African Drum & Dance; Babysitter’s Training Class; Teen Zumba; Senior Introductory Softball; Indoor Soccer and Fitness Boot Camps.
