Clothes for Kids back to school event to begin July 28th

July 24, 2017

Columbiana Centre and Columbia Place Mall on Friday, July 28 – Sunday, August 6

The Salvation Army of the Midlands is preparing to host its annual Clothes for Kids back to school event for underserved children who do not have adequate clothing, shoes, and school supplies.

Clothes for Kids provides the opportunity for local shoppers to help provide back to school essentials for local children.

Clothes for Kids will be held at Columbiana Centre and Columbia Place Mall on Friday, July 28 – Sunday, August 6, during regular mall hours.

At each Clothes for Kids table in Columbia Place Mall and Columbiana Centre a display board with cards listing children’s names, ages, and clothing sizes will be set up so shoppers can select a child’s card and purchase clothes and supplies for a child.

The Clothes for Kids table at Columbiana Centre will be set up near the Hollister store, near the playground and JC Penney inside entrance. The Clothes for Kids table at Columbia Place Mall will be located in front of Burlington Coat Factory’s inside mall entrance.

The Salvation Army is partnering with Coach Dawn Staley, Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of South Carolina, and her charity Innersole, which provides new sneakers to children in need. For the fifth year, Innersole will provide shoes for children in this program.

Clothes for Kids provided for 273 children in 2016.

Table attendants will be available to assist shoppers at both malls on Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
