Columbia attorney William M. Umbach named partner at Adams and Reese

COLUMBIA, SC – Adams and Reese Columbia attorney William M. Umbach was one of seven firm lawyers named partner, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Other firm attorneys named partner for the new year were Marshall A. Hevron of New Orleans, Rocklan “Rocky” William King, III, of Nashville, Evan A. Moeller of Houston, Jamie W. Olinto of Jacksonville, Russell J. Rutherford of Birmingham and Brian K. Smithweck of Mobile.
Umbach joined Adams and Reese in 2013 and incorporates his advanced training in taxation into his practice to help his clients organize, manage and reorganize their businesses to adapt to the changing business client. He counsels clients ranging in size from individuals navigating local markets to Fortune 100 companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenue.
In addition to providing an informed perspective on the issues that face his business clients, Umbach’s advanced tax training enables him to represent his clients in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and structure transactions and settlements in a tax-advantageous manner.
A 2004 graduate of Duke University, Umbach completed his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010 and earned his LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 2011. He was named among Legal Elite of the Midlands by Columbia Business Monthly in 2016 and 2017, and was named a Top Attorney by the publication in 2017.
