COLUMBIA, SC –  The Columbia Design League is now accepting entries for the annual Runaway Runway design contest and recycled fashion show. The design competition, in which designers re-imagine post-consumer trash into ultra-creative wearables, is wrapped in an entertaining fashion show that will take place on Saturday, April 11 at the Columbia Museum of Art.

  .
Each entry in the competition costs $25 with a reduced $15 rate for student designers. There’s no limit to the number of designs that can be submitted by a designer. All entries vying for inclusion in Runaway Runway 2015 must register online or at the front desk of the Columbia Museum of Art. The design competition is limited to 50 entries and entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for entering the design competition is Friday, March 27, 2015.
  .
Selections will be evaluated for inclusion in Runaway Runway 2015 by the following judges: Anna Felicity Friedman, body art content expert and tattoo historian; Jeffrey Keyton, Senior Vice President for On-Air Design and Off-Air Creative for MTV and MTV2; Jillian Owens, writer, designer and eco-fashion revolutionary — ReFashionista; Timothy Westbrook, fiber artist, sustainable fashion designer and Project Runway contestant.  Judging criteria include: design, material re-use, construction, quality, overall effect and appeal as well as live runway modeling of the entry. Complete details and rules are available here. All designers must be available for a mandatory rehearsal at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, April 8 at the Columbia Museum of Art.
 .
Runaway Runway 2015 will be held Saturday, April 11 from 8:00 – 10:00 pm at the Columbia Museum of Art. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. Advance ticket sales will be available for $25 or $40 at the door.

“Runaway Runway is a unique opportunity for anyone who loves design to hone their creativity and practice sustainability in a wildly fun way,” says Amy Shumaker, president of the Columbia Design League. “We’re always thrilled to see what designers dream up each year. It’s never the same show twice. ”
