Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls to host Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA)Tournament in Columbia, SC at the National Guard Armory on Bluff Rd.
March 29, 2017Columbia’s nationally ranked roller derby league, the Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls, are gearing up for their 4th Annual Southern Discomfort Roller Derby Tournament! This is a tournament that will be played on April 8th & 9th. This tournament will feature WFTDA Top 50 Internationally ranked teams, B-Level teams, as well as Co-Ed Junior Roller Derby Teams. There will be teams from the Southeast, East Coast, Northeast, and the Midewest
There is sure to be some great derby action with these Top 50 ranked teams: Detroit (28), Jacksonville (9), Rocky Mountain (44), Columbia QuadSquad (30), Madison (36), and Atlanta (11). Also, be sure to catch some B-Team action from the Columbia’s Soda City Jerks versus Madison’s B-Team on Saturday night, as well as Detroit’s Disassembly Line versus Madison’s B-Team on Sunday afternoon. These games are sure to be fights until the last whistle! The Columbia Junior Rollers and Rocky Mountain Rollerpunks will also battle it out Saturday afternoon to prove they might be young (ages 10-17), but they are just as fierce and will fight for every point!
The Columbia QuadSquad Allstars will be playing both Saturday (11 am) and Sunday (1 pm, 7pm), the Soda City Jerks will play Saturday at 7 pm, and the Columbia Junior Rollers will play Saturday at 5pm.. With numerous returning Allstars, the ladies look forward to combining strength with experience. Jammers, such as Tiffany ‘Poison Violet’ Quick, Agent Cherry Maim’her, Pastafarian, and Must Dash will lead the charge with lively, steady feet snatching up every obtainable point. Chucktown Bruiser, Sour Hour, Holly Hunter, Barney Rebel, Meg Riot, Rox Anne Stones, Owl Gore, and Starspangled BanGRR all take to the track to make up a formidable group of blockers.

The Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit sports organization formed in 2007. Since 2007, the league has been comprised of hardworking women and men that strive for excellence in the sport of Roller Derby and expand the knowledge of roller derby in the Columbia area. If you haven’t heard, roller derby is the fastest growing sport in the world with a 2,000% increase in participants since its rebirth in 2005. Since the Columbia QuadSquad became a member of the WFTDA in 2011, CQS has remained a community involved, tournament eligible, top 50 team. In addition to being active in the roller derby community, the ladies have been involved with many community nonprofits, such as Girls On The Run, and can often be found volunteering throughout our fair city.
