Communities In Schools of South Carolina announces new slate of board members and officers for the 2024-2025 fiscal year

Communities In Schools of South Carolina (CISSC) is excited to announce the new board members and officers for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. As CISSC continues to expand its impact across the state, the addition of these accomplished professionals will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s mission to provide every student with the support they need to stay in school and unlock their full potential.

The new board members bring a wealth of experience and expertise from various fields, which will be invaluable in guiding CISSC’s efforts to address the complex challenges faced by students and their families across South Carolina.

New Board Members:

  • Dr. Baron Davis – Founder and Chief Executive Officer, The Noegenesis Group
  • Wayne Fraleigh – Chief Operating Officer, Bon Secours Medical Group, Greenville

With their extensive commitment to the organization and the community, the newly appointed officers will spearhead strategies to strengthen and expand CISSC’s impact.

2024-25 Board Officers:

  • Chair: Mark Fell – Financial Advisor, Conte Fell Advisors
  • Vice Chair: Amir Abdullah – Transformation Executive
  • Treasurer: Terry Schmoyer – Managing Partner, Schmoyer and Company, LLC
  • Secretary: Derek Lewis – Executive Director, Greenville First Steps
  • Immediate Past Chair: Porter Johnson – Director Regional Operations, Carolina Gas Transmission, LLC – BHE GT&S
“We are excited to welcome our new board members who bring a strong commitment to our mission,” said Jamie Cooper, President and CEO of CISSC. “I would like to thank Porter Johnson for his exceptional service as the 2023-24 Board Chair and warmly welcome Mark Fell as the incoming Chair. Their leadership and dedication are instrumental in guiding us as we continue to support students across South Carolina.”

The new board members join a distinguished group of returning members who have driven the organization’s success since the statewide merger in 2021. Together, they will work to expand CISSC’s reach and impact, ensuring that more students have the resources and support they need to thrive.
